This monograph examines a complex of leading ideological themes, directions, and genres of Russian literature of the 18th century in the context of the gradual formation of trends in the domestic literary culture known as 'mediocrity', aimed at harmonizing the contradictions arising in the course of historical-cultural and historical-literary processes. We are interested in aspects such as the general phenomenology of 'mediocre culture', the theory of trinitarian thinking, and the phenomenon of 'deep structures'. Throughout the analysis, the book draws on a broad temporal context: from the era of pre-classicism at the turn of the 17th-18th centuries to the main strategies of pre-romanticism and Enlightenment realism already at the transition to the 19th century.
