This book is a reissue of the first part of the textbook edited by Prof. L.V. Shcherba on the grammar of the Russian language for 5th and 6th grades of secondary school (1953), which includes sections on phonetics and morphology. The introduction discusses the sentence, its types, main and secondary sentence elements. The first part of the textbook contains paragraphs on phonetics: about sounds and letters, about marking the softness of consonants in writing, about the separating ъ and ь, about the basic rules of Russian literary pronunciation, etc. The second part of the textbook covers morphology.
First, students learn about word composition and related rules. Then, complete information on each part of speech is presented: meaning, types, peculiarities of change, spelling of suffixes and endings, complex spelling cases, etc. Each paragraph includes exercises that allow the student to consolidate the studied theoretical material. The text is accompanied by illustrations that make the narrative visual and more accessible.
