Lieutenant General, Head of the Empire of Imperial Hunting Nikolai Kutepov (1851-1907) began working on the history of Russian hunting in 1891 at the wish of Emperor Alexander III. The first volume came out only five years later. It took a total of more than 20 years to complete the work of the historian and prominent Russian artists of that time. Among them are Vasnetsov, Ryabushkin, Repin, Lancer, Serov and many others.
