Dmitry Ivanovich Meyer was a pioneer of Russian civil law. In a series of lectures delivered at Kazan University in the mid-19th century, which were prepared for publication by his students and followers after the untimely death of the professor, he presented the first coherent system of the subject and tasks of civil law in the history of Russian jurisprudence. In addition to the text of "Russian Civil Law," the book includes prefaces by A.Kh. Golmsten to the 6th (1894) and 8th (1902) editions, as well as biographies of D.I. Meyer and A.I. Vitsyn, also written by A.Kh. Golmsten. All texts are reproduced from the 8th, corrected and supplemented edition of 1902. 5th edition, stereotyped.
