The proposed book of the famous economist of Professor MGIMO Valentina Katasonova is devoted to a little covered in the Russian media and our literature the topic of reparations. There was a false idea that reparations are the phenomenon of the long-lasting days. That their story ended in the 50s of the last century, when Germany stopped the reparation payments to the winners in World War II. However, it is not. The author shows that even the history of reparations of the Second World War is still far closed. In addition, today some countries pay reparations on the results of other wars. At the beginning of the XXI century, a number of states were engaged in preparing the requirements for other states in order to obtain compensation for damages of various kinds (not necessarily generated by wars and military actions) Sometimes for this, they have to deal with the crossing of history. The author calls this new phenomenon "commercialization of history" and "by the monetization of interstate relations".
Special attention in the book is given to modern Russia as the adviser of the USSR. Some countries of the near abroad (first of all, the Baltic) are preparing the Russian Federation claim for damages for the so-called "Soviet occupation". The author is promoting the inconsistency of such claims. At the same time, the book provides estimates that show that the USSR received from Germany reparations worth the amount equivalent to only 3-4% of the damage that our country suffered during the Second World War. The author believes that it is still early to put the point on the history of German reparations
