In 1920, the English writer Herbert Wells arrived in the USSR. He was among the first Western writers who dared to visit the country of Soviets. Travel essays to the author were ordered by The Sunday Express newspaper. The writer was already once in Russia, in 1914, so he happily agreed to the proposal. He was interested to see how the country had changed over the years.
In the fall of 1920, Herbert Wells, after being in Soviet Russia and upon returning to England, published the book “Russia in the Smile”, in which he spoke about his impressions. Probably, not a single book has yet caused so much noise in the West. Read and be surprised!
