The collection of articles being offered differs somewhat from publications of a similar type. In it, the author, a philosopher and historian, seeks to overcome the widespread reaction to the Marxist dogmatization of Russian history, a reaction that is natural and healthy at its core but has now become a kind of chronic condition in our science. The theme of the genetic connection between the past and the present runs through all the articles in the collection, which is revealed through the contemplation of the theory of the historical process and historical cognition, the discovery of the relationship between the international and regional in different epochs. The problematic nature of the collection implies a search, a clash of different viewpoints, questioning, which is natural in a period when the past is being reintroduced into the present, turning it into a moment of development.
