The history of the relationship between Russia with its Far Eastern neighbor - Japan is not so long. The first official contact occurred in 1792, and diplomatic relations were established only in 1855. But one and a half centuries of interstate relations have accommodated many events that, unfortunately, were characterized by not so much good neighborliness and cooperation as contradictions and armed conflicts.
