Rudolf Nureyev belonged to a rare type of people capable of changing the world around them. His contribution to the art of dance can be evaluated in different ways, but it cannot be denied that without Nureyev, there would be no modern ballet. He brought a lively human feeling into classical art. As one of the first male dancers, he began to incorporate techniques from female dance. His life was woven with contradictions, and his fate resembled a 'Cinderella story': a boy from a poor family became a world-famous celebrity. He lived through his fame, refusing to leave the stage even when he no longer had the strength to dance, lived a short but vibrant life, becoming one of the first victims of the AIDS epidemic. The most comprehensive and vivid biography of the dancer tells not only about his tumultuous personal life but also about the main romance of his life - the romance with dance.
