Arthur Schitzler is an Austrian writer, the largest representative of the Viennese impressionism. The son of a famous Viennese doctor, he graduated from the medical faculty of Vienna University, worked in various branches of medicine, was well acquainted with Sigmund Freud and was interested in his psychoanalytic theory. All these moments were reflected in the work of the writer.
“With wide -closed eyes” - the story of dreams, telling about the relationship of the married couple Friedolin and Albertina, who at first glance impressed happy and loving people living a calm and prosperous life. But in the shadow of these ideal relationships, jealousy, dissatisfaction and erotic fantasies are hidden. A series of strange events and random meetings taking place throughout the night, fascinates the reader along with the main characters in an unknown bohemian world, full of puzzles, hidden desires and mysterious dangers. Stanley Kubrick “With Eyes wide closed” (1999) makes everyone think about: is it not a dream that is surrounding us, where we, with wide eyes, try to find our way and come to ourselves?
