"Ulav, the son of Audun from the Hestiken" continues a series of historical novels about the Scandinavian Middle Ages of the wonderful Norwegian writer, the Nobel Prize laureate of the Sigrid Unset (1882-1949), begun by the world-famous trilogy "Christine, daughter of Lavarans".
The main character of the novel, like Christine, is internally free, it is not easy for him to exist in a traditional medieval society, and he now and then refuses to follow the generic customs.
In front of us is the exciting narrative about the fate of Ulava and Ingunn, their love, their life, complete both tragic and joyful events.
From early morning until late in the evening he was with Ingunn. From the house, he left only one single one for a week during the hunt for young seals. Now, when he changed his wife, the former bitterness that he had for her seemed to him a devilish temptation, to which he lost. Ingunn, Ingunn, my darling, how I could deceive you when you lie here, patient, kind and helpless, like a beast with a broken ridge!
