The Afghan military company has just begun. Our soldiers and officers still did not have the necessary combat experience. We can say that our guys did not yet know what it feels like - when they really shoot you.
Our officers did not yet know that a small mistake, inattention, and sometimes banal sloppiness in the war could turn into huge losses.
And it happened ...
In early August 1980, about a hundred Soviet soldiers and officers of the 201st motorized rifle division died in the gorges between the village of Karasdeh and Mount Shaste. For the most part, the losses lay on 783 a separate reconnaissance battalion: on the third of August, scouts lost forty -seven people killed and forty -eight wounded. Meanwhile, the historical form of 201 divisions and the archives of the 40th army about these mass killings of our soldiers are not mentioned by a word. The author conducts an investigation and tries to understand: what happened on those terrible days and why is the official story so stubbornly silent about this?
