The smile of a genius

Roman-reconstruction about the life of the Russian genius, a native of Tobolsk Dmitry Ivanovich Mendeleev. To recreate the image of the protagonist, the author chose the most significant pages of his biography, meetings with outstanding figures of that time: Pirogov, Turgenev, Dostoevsky, Repin. The main features of the character of the scientist, his habits and beliefs, searches, relationships with relatives and colleagues, as well as extensive interests are described: from studying oil products to the creation of the icebreaker, customs tariffs, demography and manufacture of domestic cheeses!
