This book is dedicated to the second half of the life of the respectable man Nikolai Vasilievich Belyakov. In the first half after thoughts, doubts and mental throwing, he chose a lesson that allowed him to establish himself in life, create a family and not part with a passion for drawing and painting, which were the main interest of his childhood and youth years. He settled in the capital, and the completely prosperous life of his family was built accordingly to their preferences, inclinations and habits.
Then the time came when the external sudden and unforeseen circumstances of insurmountable power intervened in their own understanding. These circumstances arose and replaced each other, in the past had landscaping, preferences and habits and learn to live in completely different conditions. With this I had to put up the whole first half of the twentieth century. The changes brought losses and disappointments, but they managed to preserve the family, the children grew up, grandchildren appeared and, it seems, only they, born in a new socialist time and not burdened with their own memories of another time, without a doubt accepted modernity and surrounding reality.
The years, however, went on the slope of the years, when I had to leave the service, and the pension came to replace active life, more and more often visited memories, and more and more often the warning of the ancient Chinese popped up in my memory, sounding so frightening: "Do not give you God live in an era of change. " Involuntarily had to try on this wisdom on himself, and the memory of life before the mentioned circumstances of insurmountable power, haunted.
The changes that occurred over the past half a century brought for the most part loss and disappointment, so I did not want to agree with that wisdom and did not want everything to remain, as it turned out.
Having survived the tests that fell to his generation, Nikolai Vasilievich hoped for the forgiveness of the Lord and his blessing that his grandchildren and great -grandchildren lived a calm, prosperous and happy life. In existing circumstances, it seemed more correct to him another wisdom of the same ancient philosopher: "Do not be afraid of change. Most often they happen exactly when they are necessary. ”
