The book of the famous Russian writer included three novels about the Civil War in Russia. The Youth of the Chekist talks about the suppression of the White Guard rebellion in Yaroslavl in the summer of 1918. The author used archival documents, memoirs of active participants in those distant events. However, this is not a historical chronicle: along with valid in the story, fictional characters were bred, while many facts from the life of the protagonist of the story - an eighteen -year -old worker who became a Chekist - were taken from the biography of the old Bolshevik Ivan Alekseevich Gagin.
The story “On the instructions of the Gubchek” is the continuation of the book “Youth of the Chekist”. Its plot is based on the events of 1918-1919, when, after the White Guard rebellion, the Yaroslavl Chekists revealed a new counter -revolutionary conspiracy. In the work on the story, the author used the memoirs of the chairman of the Yaroslavl Provincial Extraordinary Commission M. Lebedev, the teacher of M. Drachev, the materials of the investigation in the case of the organizers of the rebellion in Rybinsk and Yaroslavl.
The story “The Last Flight of Fulton” about how in the summer of 1919, at the height of the Civil War, the Chekists saved the hungry children, sending them on a ship to the bakery Volga provinces, how the enemies of the young republic tried to use this flight for their own purposes
