Jane Osten (1775 - 1817) is an English writer, the author of the so -called moral novels, she is considered to be a forerunner of realism in British literature. Simple in the plot, the ironic novels of Osten have not lost popularity and mandatory for study in all colleges and universities of Great Britain, and the Osten itself is still rightfully considered the “first lady” of English literature. who managed to instill in children a love of reading and literature. Jane had six brothers and sister, with whom she was especially close to her life. Osten published all the works anonymously.
“Pride and prejudice”, one of the most famous English novels, was first called “The First Impressions”. It was written in 1796 - 1797, but rejected by the publisher. Years later, when her other novel “Feeling and Sensitivity” won the love of readers, Osten processed the old manuscript and published in 1813
