Polly - the daughter of a gentleman, respected Dr. Maibrite, lives with his brothers and sisters in a small mansion sleepy hollow. The mother suddenly dies in the family, and this event makes all children quickly grow up. The favorite mother’s favorite, Polly, because the girl has a difficult character. She is cheerful, but ecstatic and obstinate, does not know how to cope with her boiling character. Thanks to her father’s love, she begins to see her shortcomings and before our eyes turns into a person who can be proud of any family.
Elizabeth Foreignine Smith (1844–1914) was a hot fan of the American writer Louise Olcott (1832–1888), her senior contemporary. The story “Polly, the newfangled girl” is a kind of answer and, in essence, the recognition of the love of Olcott, the author of the book “Old -fashioned girl”, whose main character was also Polly, published in 1870 (Our publishing house included this book in the series The Road Fortunately)
