New life. The story

The action of the story unfolds in the terrible post -revolutionary years for the church, when a wave of atheistic madness swept Russia. Father Mikhail and Deacon Yakov serve in a small rural church. They, it would seem, are an integral part of rural Russian life, in which everyone knows each other without embellishment. An honest priest, the same stoker as all peasants, enjoys indisputable authority in their midst. But this does not save Father Mikhail from persecution, because now all the "ministers of the cult" are "enemies of the people". The priest and deacon are arrested and offered, in exchange for freedom, to renounce faith. What choice will each of them make? The story is based on real events
