The new novel by Alexander Segenya is dedicated to a special direction of activity of Joseph Vissarionovich Stalin. At a certain moment, the head of the Soviet state realizes that cinema is one of the most effective tools of propaganda, if not the most important thing. And he spends a significant amount of time, supervising the cinema, becomes truly the main audience of the USSR. A crowded series of cinema figures is held before the reader, these are directors, such as Sergey Eisenstein, Grigory Alexandrov, Sergey Gerasimov and others, and many wonderful actors, and process leaders: the People"s Commissar of Kino Boris Shumyatsky, who dreamed of realizing the creation of Soviet Hollywood in Crimea, who replaced him Semyon Dukelsky and, finally, the only minister of cinema in history, Ivan Bolshakov. In the kaleidoscope of the characters, the tragic figure of the wife of Stalin Alleiluyeva, the children of the leader Svetlana and Vasily, as well as amazing personalities: the cinema mechanic Alexander Ganshin and the housekeeper of the near dacha Valentin Istomin, who, together with his master, created the secret society “Magic Lanter”
