“Little Women” by Louise May Olcott is a novel on which more than one generation of readers around the world was brought up. First published in 1868 in the United States, this work was translated into more than 50 languages and was the basis of six films, four television series, several operas and performances. Four friendly, but unlike each other, sisters grow up in the march family: romantic meg, ecstatic Joe, quiet Beth and wayward Amy. Together with the mother, waiting for the return of the father from the war, the girls go through the difficult path of growing up, on which they meet deprivations and awards, mortal dangers and disinterested help, false guidelines and real friends. For the first time in Russia, the novel is accompanied by wonderful original illustrations by the American artist Frank Tayer Marillel
