This book includes two novels by Jozef Ignius Kravsky, one of the classics of Polish literature.
The novel "Maslav" talks about the events of the 1030s, when after the death of King Meshko II in the ancient Polish state, Troubles began. The son of the deceased king, Casimir, later nicknamed the reducing agent, returns to a ruined country in order to restore order in it, but not Casimir is the main character of the narrative. The confrontation between the faithful warriors of the deceased Meshko and the former royal distillery of Maslaw, who, wanting to become a new king, captures estates and fortresses, but only one does not want to submit to him - the Olshov castle.
The main theme of the novel "Kunigas" was the struggle of the inhabitants of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania with the knights of the Teutonic Order. The basis of the plot was a real event - the defense of the Lithuanian fortress of Pileni from the Teutons in 1336, when residents chose to commit suicide, but not to surrender, and in the center of the story - the fate of the Litvin young man. Being the son of the Pilesky Kunigas (prince), in early childhood he was captured by the crusaders, but returned to his homeland
