Returning home from work on a bicycle, Debby accidentally knocks a passerby. Fortunately, there were no serious consequences, except for the acquaintance, a gift in the form of a new bicycle and an invitation to dinner. Debbie, a modest English teacher in Cambridge, is fascinated by a beautiful and courteous Italian Pierluigi and his stories about her native Florence - the city of her dreams. What if this is a sign of fate and after a long loneliness Debbie finally met the man she dreamed about? However, soon Pierluji is forced to go back to his homeland. The short novel is completed, but the desire to see Florence (and, perhaps, his lover) does not leave Debbie - and now she is on the banks of Arno, under the luxurious Florentine sky, and whatever happens, because the dream has already been half come true
