The classic of Polish literature, an honorary academician of the St. Petersburg Academy of Sciences, Genrik Senkevich was a brilliant historical novelist. Like Hugo, Dumas, Tolstoy, he managed to describe the great events of past eras, paying the attention of the person - the creator of these events. In 1905, Senkevich was awarded the Nobel Prize in literature with the wording "for outstanding merits in the field of epic".
