In 1966, the novel “Babi Yar” was first published in the three issues of the Yunost magazine - a terrifying in its details the story of the Kyiv period of the fascist occupation. Later, writer Anatoly Kuznetsov will leave the country, and his name for many years will be deleted from the history of Soviet literature. The illustrations of Savva Brodsky, whose powerful black and white graphics, accompanied the text in the “Youth” and in the 1967 book - the only Soviet editions of the novel.
In the 1990s, the author’s version of "Babyeu Yar", created by Anatoly Kuznetsov in exile, returned to Russian readers, but Savva Brodsky’s drawings, which the artist considered his best works on a military theme, continued to be in oblivion.
This publication returns the illustrations of Savva Brodsky - in the format that the artist conceived, and with the text with which he worked
