The work of Robert Falk (1886–1958) has been raisingly for more than half a century of artists, artists and collectors. At different times, he was called the avant -garde and formalist, socialist and the h (the forerunner of the “harsh style”. Meanwhile, he himself called his style “picturesque realism”, choosing a special language that allowed him to perceive and convey the symphonism of the world through the art of painting.
In the book of the St. Petersburg art critic Anton Uspensky, an attempt was made to comprehend and analyze the picturesque system of the artist, who had an individual sense of color, special vision and an innate susceptibility to rhythm. Throughout the long creative life, Falk consistently and stubbornly, with incredible performance, moved to the guide that called picturesque painting. Proven by his ideals and moral principles, he always defended the “right to his own song” and “in a historical perspective remained alone, who had not been adjacent to anyone and did not express any group interests” (D.V. Sarabianov)
