We live in a society called mediatized. Most traditional approaches to the study of the media that clearly share the reality of society and the media image of this reality work poorly in this new social context. An appeal to the interpretation of media as a ritual allows us to offer a significantly wider vision of a mediatized world. The author is a doctor of sociological sciences, professor of the Department of Political Science of the National Research University "Higher School of Economics". The work uses the results obtained during the implementation of the project No. 1001-0009 "Mediaric", implemented as part of the program "Scientific Fund of the Higher School of Economics" in 2010-2012
