The events of Jack London’s novel “rebellion on“ Elsinore ”(1914) unfold on a sailing ship, which makes a half -year swimming with a load of coal around North and South America. On his own whim, John Patherte, a thirty -year -old successful writer, saturated with life and wants to dispel the boredom of everyday life, is on board this ship. He enters the society of Captain West, his pretty daughter Margaret and his two assistants, who are surrounded by a more than strange team, consisting of drunkards, cripples, crazy and other dubious personalities, recruited on the shore at the last minute. But there are other people in it: smart, brave, cruel, ready to go to any crime. After the sudden death of the captain, they raised on board the Elsinora riot, which forces John to get out of the role of an outside observer and opens his true nature of the leader-strong, strong-willed and courageous ... In the Soviet Union, this novel was more than sixty years old, under the actual prohibition because Clearly the Nietzschean nature of the author’s ideas, and in the USA and Europe in the 1920-1930s, three feature films were made for its reasons
