The work of Viktor Nikolaevich Zemskov (1946–2015) is dedicated to the issue of repatriation of Soviet prisoners of war forcibly taken to Germany, citizens of the USSR, and refugees in the post-war period. The author uses archival sources, most of which were declassified only in the 1980s and later. The work provides a detailed overview of the mechanisms and scale of repatriation of displaced persons to the Soviet Union. Today, V.N. Zemskov's book remains one of the most comprehensive studies related to this issue, shedding light on the ideological, political, and social aspects of repatriation.
