The book is a textbook on the lecture course "retrospective of genetics" for undergraduates of the last year of teaching the Department of Genetics and Biotechnology of St. Petersburg State University. 16 lectures and "conclusion" benefits are considering the history of the formation of the methodology of genetics as accurate biology. The book is preliminarily long administration, which considers the structure of the scientific method in comparison with the subject of genetics as the science of heredity and variability and its place in the system of natural sciences. Acquaintance with the history of scientific discoveries and the emergence of the basic concepts of genetics should help the reader understand the dynamics of the formation of the problems of this science. Knowledge of the evolution of terms and concepts of genetics should contribute to in-depth penetration into their modern content. Thus, the main emphasis is the history of ideas, accompanied by the history of people who made the largest discoveries and influenced the development of genetics. Specific features of the history of national genetics and its contribution to world science are considered in comparison with the main trends of its development
