For the first time in Russia, the publication of the most famous work of the founder of the Scottish philosophy of common sense "Thomas Reed (1710-1796) is carried out. "The study of the human mind on the principles of common sense", published in 1764, was one of the first reactions to the book D. Yuma "treatise about human nature (1739) Reed does not accept the extremes of Yummy skepticism, the source of which he sees in the Cartesian-Lokkovsky "theory of ideas". In its work, T. Reed anticipates I. Kant"s research in the construction of a priori structure of knowledge, according to which the thinking is initially inherent in some common intuitive schemes, ensuring the possibility of knowledge about real processes. The author of the work provided for sixty years to professional mathematicians designs a psychological model of spherical geometry, anticipating the elliptical geometry of Riemann.
