'Renounce the old world, shake off its dust from our feet!' - the words of this song, written by Petr Lavrov to the music of 'La Marseillaise', were widely known in pre-revolutionary Russia.
P.L. Lavrov (1823-1900) - Russian sociologist, philosopher, historian, publicist, and revolutionary. Calling for a struggle against the old world, 'mired in lies and injustice', Lavrov believed that a moral individual inevitably comes into conflict with an unjust society. He called for the establishment of a system based on the voluntary union of free people and showed ways to achieve this goal.
In this book, 'the code of the revolutionary' by P.L. Lavrov is supplemented for comparison with similar codes by two other prominent representatives of the revolutionary movement in Russia: M.A. Bakunin and S.G. Nechayev.
