In the conditions of the global energy crisis and climate change, there is a need for alternative sources of energy. So far, there is no clear definition and classification of renewable energy and its clear distinction from alternative energy. The most generalized concept of renewable energy sources is the interpretation that renewable energy is energy produced from replenishable resources that naturally renew within certain time frames and do not disrupt the ecological balance of the planet, while reducing humanity's dependence on traditional energy resources. This book covers the basics of the theory and energy characteristics of renewable and non-traditional sources: wind, water flow, solar radiation, bioenergy, geothermal energy, and methods of converting them into electrical energy. Significant attention is paid to increasing the efficiency of converting primary energy resources and the rational construction of autonomous low-power supply systems. The designs of some modern energy installations are provided. This book is intended for scientific and engineering professionals working on the issue of using non-traditional and renewable energy sources. The material will be in demand by students studying relevant educational programs, as well as for preparing for state final certification. The book includes control questions for each section to test knowledge during intermediate assessment.
