The monograph is devoted to the study of the religious movement of zealots of piety, or Bogolyubites. Based on a wide range of sources, many of which are first introduced into scientific circulation, the activities of representatives of movement in the Nizhny Novgorod Volga region, Temnikov, Novgorod, Kostroma and Yuryevts Volzhsky are considered. Particular attention in the work is paid to the connections of the Bogolyubtsev with the printed court, government policy regarding popular rites and buffoons.
