Taking advantage of its fame (international prize of publishers, 1967) and a unique opportunity provided an interview with a French journalist, the outstanding Polish writer Vitold Gombrovich (1904–1969) tried to dispel the misunderstanding that accumulated around his work. Forbidden in his country and only selectively translated into ten languages, Gombrovich felt the need to consistently connect his work with his life. Being an autobiography and a guide to his works, the interview is followed by the chronology of the writer"s work. In this book, Gombrovich retains all his sharpness, his humor, his foresight.
