The essay "War and the Bible" (1932) St. Nikolai Serbsky (Velimirovich), written between the two world wars, is dedicated to the attitude of Christianity to war. Saint Nikolai says that God decides the outcome of every war and that all ancient and modern wars can be understood and explained only in the light of the Bible. Thinking about the causes of wars in general, the author writes: "... a man of man with man is the fruit of a man of man with God." St. Nikolai comes to the conclusion that defeat in the war is the result of sin and retreat of the people, rulers and military leaders from God, and the good morality of all of the above leads to victories and the world.
