Alexander Andreevich Arkhangelsky (1846-1924)-one of the most striking representatives of the Russian choral art of the turn of the century. Regent, conductor, composer, teacher, he left a noticeable mark in the musical culture of Russia. Technical accessibility of concerts contributed to their widespread use of modern performing practice. The composer himself more often called them superior verses. Arkhangelsky wrote two all -nights. The first is the arrangement of the Greek, Kyiv and banner tunes. The second, which included in the collection, is a free author"s composition.
