The book "Stone of faith" of Metropolitan Stefan (Yavorsky, 1658-1722) is a polemic work of the outstanding church and statesman of Peter"s time. This is a complete systematic presentation of the Orthodox doctrine, written in 1718, is characterized by the brightness and imagery of the expressions and includes 12 treatises covering all the dogmas disputed by Protestants at that time. Each dogma is first stated, then proved, after which all objections to it are refuted. Metropolitan Stefan (Yavorsky) builds the arguments in defense of Orthodoxy on the basis of the Holy Scriptures and Ecumenical Councils, on the sayings of the Holy Fathers and Teachers of the Church, as well as on philosophical logical arguments.
This publication is presented in the translation of Archpriest Nikolai Barinov, who set his task to preserve the features and beauty of the Church Slavonic language as much as possible. The book included the full text of the "stone of faith", including places removed by censorship in the 19th century.
The book is intended for all the "Orthodox sons of the Holy Church - for approval and spiritual creation, which is spent on the stumbling block and temptation - to the uprising and correction.
