Founded in 1337 by the Monk Sergius of Radonezh, it eventually became the heart of Orthodox Russia and has always served as an example of fidelity, stamina and love for its Fatherland. Now this is the largest male monastery, which stores the relics of St. Sergius of Radonezh and one of the most famous icons of Andrei Rublev - “Trinity”, and the unique architectural ensemble, included in the UNESCO World Heritage List.
And on the way to the Holy Trinity Sergiev Lavra, you can make a stop in the villages of Tyninsky and Sofrin - places where Russian autocrats rested on the way to Lavra. The Blagoveshchensk Temple in Tyninsky and the Church of the Smolensk Icon of the Mother of God in Sofrin - the masterpieces of Russian Orthodox architecture of the 17th century.
The city of Sergiev Posad, where the Holy Trinity Sergiev Lavra is located, is located 54 km from Moscow. From the Yaroslavl station to the Sergiev Posad station, electric trains go. From the station you should walk along Sergievskaya Street, then along Voznesenskaya, or drive by public transport to the stopping center. By car - from Moscow along the Yaroslavl highway, reaching the Moscow small ring, turn left and right to the right - to the old Yaroslavskoye highway. In Rakhmanov - turn left, then do not miss the pointer to the village of Sofrino (left)
