The book is based on memories of industrial and economic construction in Russia in the so-called Donetsk basin. The author himself is not only a witness, but also a participant in this construction, who worked in the pool for thirty years. The Donetsk pool, as you know, occupied a vast territory of coal deposits, including units of the Kharkov and Yekaterinoslav provinces and part of the Donskoy army. In the Donetsk basin, the largest coal mining in Russia and cast iron smelting were concentrated. The pool gravitated towards Kharkov as the place of the focus of socio-industrial and most private and official administrative bodies serving the entire southern heavy industry. The content of the narrative is not only the author’s personal memories of the life of the engineers-builders and the leaders of enterprises, as well as the workers, but also the memories of the characteristic features and features that the public and industrial life of this richest region of Russia from 1890 to 1914 This was a time of the events exceptional in terms of state significance, both in the economic and political life of the country
