The attention of the readers is proposed to the interpretation of Archimandrite Emilian (Vafidis) (1934-2019), the wonderful Greek ascetic and theologian of our days, on one of the main ascetic works of “kindness”-“the word about sobriety and prayer” of the Monk Ishikhiy of Jerusalem.
In his conversations, the elder Emilian not only gives a new life to the heritage of the Monk fathers and makes their scriptures understandable and accessible to people of the 21st century, but also answers in detail and clearly to any Christian questions: what is sobriety and smart work as Learning prayer that prevents us from salvation, can we get rid of passions and achieve impassivity?
In this publication, the interpretations of the elder Emilian are included in the first twenty -nine chapters of the Word of sobriety and prayer.
