The attention of readers is offered a “nature system” - an outstanding work of the great materialist and atheist of the Golbach field. The “nature system” belongs to the number of classical works of militant materialism of the 18th century.
The book gives a comprehensive criticism of religion, a materialistic, atheistic worldview is justified. The author examines in detail and refutes the evidence of the being of God, reveals the reactionary role of religion in society, considers all human actions as causally determined and necessary.
The book, which became the main and most famous composition of P. Golbach, was published in 1770 and was the most comprehensive substantiation of materialism and atheism of that era. Contemporaries called it the Bible of materialism. The “nature system” was condemned by the Parisian parliament and sentenced to burn together with other atheistic works by P. Golbach, and the Roman Catholic Church included them in the “index of prohibited books”. But the author himself was not persecuted, since the authorship of books was not established, his works were published outside France under fictional names and indicating the false place of the publication. Carefully maintaining anonymity, P. Golbach managed to avoid persecution.
The book is published according to the publication of 1940, but it also includes an article about it of the outstanding Soviet philosopher A.M. Deborin and the bibliography of the works of P. Golbach from the 1924 publication.
