The course “Worship and the structure of the Orthodox Church” according to the “standard of educational activities in Sunday schools (for children) of the Russian Orthodox Church in the Russian Federation” is one of the basic religious subjects.
The task of the course is not just a message from knowledge about God and the Church, but first of all, the introduction of the child into the temple, to the life of the Church as one large family.
A book for reading introduces children to the basic concepts of God and prayer. The section “Church Year” gives a brief explanation of the essence of the celebrated and available for understanding at this age the features of festive worship. Studying the twelve holidays, children repeat the gospel history, and this, in turn, allows us to explain the symbols of the temple and liturgical objects. At the end of the course, young Christians learn about the main moments of the all -night vigil and liturgy, church sacraments.
In addition to the “Book for Reading”, the “worship and structure of the Orthodox Church” includes the “Workbook” and “Methodological Guide for the Teacher”. The kit is intended for classes with children 8-10 years old in Sunday schools, Orthodox gymnasiums, in the lessons Fundamentals of Orthodox Culture in secular schools, as well as for family education.
