The “Explanatory Bible of Lopukhin "was prepared on the basis of the classical work of the outstanding Russian biblicalist, theologian, professor of the St. Petersburg Theological Academy Alexander Pavlovich Lopukhin (1852-1904) His comments on the Books of the Holy Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments are the most authoritative, competent and detailed interpretation of the Bible. In his monumental work, the "Biblical History of the Old Testament", which has withstood 20 reprints until 1917, Lopukhin collected and analyzed the entire biblical-chronological, archaeological, historical and ethnographic material available by the end of the 19th century. The Biblical History of the New Testament is a wonderful example of the popularization of theological science, contributing to spiritual education and enlightenment of people.
