The “prayer book of the Orthodox warrior”, who saw the light in 2021, is a processed and supplemented edition of the former prayer prayer for military, who had survived several circulations since 2009.
The prayer book is opened with brief prayers before the battle, which are followed by prayers during the disaster and during the attack of enemies: after all, military service is associated with particular danger, often death looks in the face, and at such moments the most important thing is to faith in God and the feasible Appeal to him. The morning and evening rule, as well as the following to the Holy Communion, are given in an abbreviated version, optimal for tense army everyday life. The composition of the prayer book is significantly supplemented: in addition to the prayers traditionally included in brief collections, it included, in particular, the “everyday prayer of the warrior”, prayers for the bestowal of patience, to get rid of temptations and sorrows, for the release of prisoners, prayer to the prophet Elijah during hunger, Prayers for parents and children ... The book also includes prayers to the sincere patrons of soldiers who traditionally pray to our defenders, prayers in the memory of the deceased and dead soldiers and purely military prayers. The special section compiled prayers for the painful: in critical situations, when a person is exhausted by the natural weakness and pain, it seems, they prevail over human forces, prayer to God and his help become the basis of courage, patience, persistence and healing.
A significant part of the book is the section “On our faith”, which includes the explanation of the commandments of God, catechism articles about the prayer “Our Father” and the symbol of faith, about the worship and the sacraments of the Orthodox Church. An example of high faith and military valor is the indistinguishable testament to the Russian soldiers of the great commander Alexander Vasilievich Suvorov. His words, raising the spirit and strengthening in standing for the right faith and the Fatherland, also became part of the new military prayer book. The book concludes a brief dictionary of Church Slavonic words and Easter until 2026
