The 1917 revolution and civil war is one of the most dramatic pages in the history of the Russian Orthodox Church. The church never used such freedom as in the summer and autumn of 1917, and this freedom benefited her. But after the Bolsheviks came to power, the situation changed, and the church became the subject of an acute political struggle. Nevertheless, the Church turned out to be the only official organization of Russia, which resisted and did not collapse institutionally after the revolution.
