The book is dedicated to the First Russian Monastic Code - the Alekseevsky Studio Charter, compiled at the beginning of the XI century by Patriarch Alexy Studit for the Constantinople monastery, shortly after this translated into the Slavic language and introduced by St. Theodosius of the Pechersky in the Kiev Pechersk monastery. Alekseevsky Charter became a model for most later monastery charters of Ancient Russia.
