"Mahawarochana-Sutra" is one of the two theoretical texts of esoteric (tantric) Buddhism. Its Sanskrit original was supposedly compiled in India in the second half of the 7th century, and to Chinese it transferred Shubhakarasimh in 724. Simultaneously with the translation of Shubhakarasimkh, he interpreted the text orally, these “lectures” recorded by his student I-Sin, a mathematician and an astronomer, lay down The main Chinese commentary on the sutra is based on. Buddhaguhya, whose comment was also used in translation, was probably born about 700 and lived mainly in the field of Varanasi.
The central theme of the sutra: what is the "perfect enlightenment" and how to achieve it? Such enlightenment is personified in the figure of the Ecumenical Buddha of Mahavirochany, respectively, the purpose of all practitioners is proclaimed the formation of Mahavyrochani.
Sutra is translated from the Chinese language, the translation of the commentary of Buddhaguhya Dan selectively, in the translation of the commentary of Shubhakarasimhi and-Sica, explanations of Sanskrit words and detailed descriptions of the rituals are omitted.
