The period of the Great Patriotic War is moving further from us, and in 2020 we are already celebrating the 75th anniversary of Victory. But the tragic and heroic events of this historical period continue to live in the hearts of people, and gradually the significant role that the Russian Orthodox Church played in victory over Nazism becomes more and more obvious.
The publication proposed to the reader is the presentation of the military period of its activities (1941-1945) is a key in its dramatic history of the 20th century. The first chapter of the book is devoted to the patriotic activities of the Russian Church, including in the besieged Leningrad, the religious policy of the Soviet state and a change in state-church relations in the USSR during the war. The second chapter analyzes the formation and evolution of German state policy in relation to the Russian Orthodox Church during the Second World War, and considered church life in the occupied territory of the USSR.
