The book tells about St. John the Baptist. All four gospels pay great attention to him as a prophet, whose sermon directly preceded the Savior"s sermon. The gospel from Mark begins with a story about John the Baptist. Matthew has a story about the sermon of the Baptist immediately after the story of the birth and childhood of Christ. Luke begins its gospel with the birth of the Baptist and then sets out parallel to the biography of John and Jesus. All three weather forecasters describe the baptism of Jesus from John in Jordan as an event from which the public ministry of Christ began. About John the Baptist and his meetings with Jesus is also told in the Gospel of John.
