"Settlement of Christian moralizing" St. Theophan the Recluse originally was the part of his famous composition "Letters about Christian life", which he subsequently processed. The saint canceled the epistolary form and added new material.
The author, tracing the stages of the life of a Christian, pays special attention to the moral side and offers the rules that should be guided by the path to salvation. In his work, the saint of God relies on the Holy Scriptures, the teachings of the Holy Fathers of the Church, the ascetic scriptures of the Fathers-Mapes, as well as on their experience of spiritual life.
Contemporaries of the Vyshensky recluse highly appreciated this work, saying that the "Sugues ..." are not inferior to the best courses of moral theology. And today this composition of the saint is a practical leadership in the spiritual formation of man
